Artist Statement: These works were created in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, a storm that wore down both spirits and structures. Natural disasters, like the passage of time, confront us with our vulnerability and the inevitability of loss. After the hurricane, I gathered wooden debris: two-by-fours, strips of molding and trim, fragments of boards, pieces of kitchen cabinets, and dressers. These remnants hold traces of place and time—of home and neighborhood, of life before and after.
